CLUB SESSIONS - What happens at our club sessions?
As well as learning and improving our badminton shots, we also improve our fitness and footwork and try to concentrate on match play and improving our tactics for singles, doubles and mixed. We try to make this more enjoyable by having club tournaments and competitions.
Other club initiatives to develop players:
At the end of each season, the club presents a number of awards to those players, the most prestigious of which is the Stuart Dickson Player of the Year Award – this award has been set up in memory of our long time manager/coach and friend who sadly passed away November 2006. In the team match, Penarth Juniors were victorious winning 12 - 7, notable performances from Louise Breen and Will Painter in mixed doubles and Yee Xia Lim and Jordan Carpenter in the doubles. A fantastic match played with great atmosphere and good sportsmanship.
The Aix European Junior Tournament took place over the bank holiday weekend and included players from all from all over France. Louise Breen won the Under 17 girls singles and was a finalist with Charlotte Platt in the girls Under 19 doubles.
