Player Rankings
Badminton
Wales Senior Rankings
is a list of players in an
order of strength throughout Wales. The system is used to rank players as explained below:-

Win ranking points by playing in tournaments that are graded.

Will be ranked if you have played in 1 or more graded
tournaments in the last 12 months.

Win ranking points by playing in and winning matches in
tournaments.

The higher level of tournament the more ranking points are won.
-
The further reached in competition the more points are won.
Doubles rankings
relate to the performance of the individual, not pairs.
The ranking list will be published on the
first Thursday of every month.
Points System
If a player/pair:
-
Had a bye
in the first round and lost in the second round – they receive first round
loser’s points.
-
had a bye
in the first round, won in the second round and lost in the third round –
they receive third round loser’s points
-
Had a
walkover in the first round and lost in the second round – they receive
second round loser’s points.
-
had a bye
in the first round, walkover in the second round and lost in the third
round – they receive third round loser’s points.
Ranking
The Ranking Points to be used to determine the ranking of individual
players are calculated as follows:
For players who have competed in:
8 or fewer tournaments their ranking points are determined by dividing their
TOTAL points earned by 8.
9 or 10 tournaments their ranking points are determined by dividing their TOTAL
points earned by the number of tournaments played.
11 or more tournaments their ranking points are determined by dividing the
TOTAL of their best 10 results by 10. Players are then ranked in descending
order of Ranking Points.
The table below show the points awarded for each of the tournaments
played in.

Any player / pair that represents their Country will be allocated
their average number of points at that given time.
